Madrid (EFE).- Seven people drowned over the weekend on beaches and swimming pools throughout Spain, four of them on the Catalan coast, while in Zaragoza the victim is an 8-year-old boy who died in a public pool.
On Saturday, a 55-year-old man drowned on the Salatar beach in Roses (Girona) on a yellow flag day due to the state of the sea. The victim was rescued from the unconscious water and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
The same day two other victims were recorded on the Catalan beaches. A 32-year-old man of Indian nationality drowned on the Miracle beach in Tarragona, where the yellow flag was also waving as a symbol of caution, while another 60-year-old bather died on the Rubina beach in Castelló d’Empúries (Girona). ).
Also on Saturday, a 75-year-old man drowned in a pool located in the Las Salinas urbanization, in Medina del Campo (Valladolid).
Already this Sunday, the number of fatalities due to drowning in bathing areas in Catalonia added another death, that of a 65-year-old man on the beach of L’Estatit, in the Girona municipality of Torroella de Montgrí.
An 8-year-old boy has also drowned in the municipal swimming pool in the rural neighborhood of Casetas, in Zaragoza.
The minor, who was in the facilities with his relatives, was in one of the small pools and the center’s lifeguard immediately took him out and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him for about 45 minutes, although he could not save his life.
Finally, a 70-year-old man drowned in the sea, on the Gola del Perellonet beach in Valencia, on Sunday afternoon.
