Logroño, June 28 (EFE).- The popular Gonzalo Capellán has been elected this Wednesday president of the Government of La Rioja thanks to the absolute majority of the PP in the regional Parliament, with 17 deputies.
Chaplain, elected in the first vote of the investiture plenary session held this Tuesday and Wednesday in the La Rioja Chamber, has only had the votes of his group; while the 12 deputies from the PSOE, the 2 from Vox and the 2 from Podemos-IU have opposed it.
Capellán, who becomes the ninth president of the Government of La Rioja, replaces the socialist Concha Andreu; and the forecast is that he will take office next Friday, June 30, at the Yuso Monastery in San Millán de la Cogolla, where the Statute of Autonomy for this region was signed.
