Logroño, (EFE).- The new political party Por La Rioja offers a “responsible, coherent, hopeful and vocation for government” alternative to the regional and municipal elections on May 28, defended one of its promoters, Alberto Breton.
“Our passion for La Rioja and our concern for its future unite us,” stressed Bretón, who was general secretary of the popular people of La Rioja and who, last January, presented his withdrawal from the PP after 21 years of militancy and resigned to his act of regional deputy.
Currently, the new formation, which is open to all who want to join, includes people linked to the La Rioja PP, some already ex-affiliated, dissatisfied with the appointment of Gonzalo Capellán as candidate for the Presidency of the Government of La Rioja next May 28 without holding a congress.
They are joined by members and former members of the PR+, contrary to the pact with España Vaciada to contest the next regional and municipal elections.
A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS
For La Rioja, a congress will be held in March, which will be “democratic”, and in which the statutes will be approved, the organic structure will be configured and the candidates will be elected.
“We want to be an option for good government in this community, where not all parties are the same and not all politicians are the same”, insisted Bretón, for whom this new project arises from “tiredness, weariness and disappointment in the national parties, those who tell us that they believe in democracy and that we have seen that they are not capable of practicing that democracy in their internal structures”.
In addition, it arises from “the disappointment in the national parties and, furthermore, in many of their politicians, who only represent the chair they defend,” he added, “professional politicians who have either renounced the right to disagree or remain submissive to keep his job.”
“We are also tired – he continued – of this tension and degeneration in the political debate on a national scale, in which insults and disqualification predominate, and that is not the policy we want”.
For La Rioja “it will set an example of internal democracy, it will not be subject to national leadership” and it is a party, he has insisted, that “will think fundamentally about people.”
AUTONOMY AND SELF-GOVERNMENT
For him, this project is promoted by people with experience in management and public function, who are “autonomists” and will always defend “autonomy, self-government and the greatest capacity to manage the greatest number of competencies”.
“We understand politics from the perspective of public service and proximity,” said Bretón, for whom “you have to have the ability to solve problems.”
Bretón has outlined the axes of the program of this new party, such as public services and their excellence, the determined commitment to improve infrastructure, the economic development of the region, the attraction of talent, the rural environment and the Riojan identity.
In a first phase, the new party wants to establish proposals and receive suggestions to configure the political program, which “gets off the street” and “in which the young people present participate actively, since they are the future of this autonomous community”. , has highlighted.
FILL THE BALLOTS WITH ILLUSION
Borja Jiménez, former president of the Juventudes del PR+, has opted, during his speech, for young people, sports and the peoples and, shouting “For La Rioja”, has appealed to “fill the ballot boxes with illusion” on the next 28 of May.
Óscar Reina and Sonsoles Soriano, ex-affiliates of the PP and members of the Platform “One affiliate, one vote”, have expressed their enthusiasm for La Rioja and its policies.
