Lisbon (EFE).- Cristiano Ronaldo has categorically ruled out returning to European football, which in his opinion “has lost a lot of quality”, and assures that he prefers to play in Saudi Arabia, which will continue to receive more top-level players because “Cristiano opened the box of Pandora”.
In statements to the press in the Algarve (south of Portugal) after the match between his team, Saudi Al Nassr, and Celta de Vigo (5-0 defeat), Cristiano assured that “it is not worth it” to return to Europe , given their age and the decline in quality of their leagues, with the exception of England.
“That door is completely closed. I’m already 38 and a half years old and it’s not worth it. From my point of view, Europe has lost a lot of quality. The only league in the world, for me, that is at a higher level than all of them, is the Premier League. I don’t think even the Spanish league has that much quality, ”he said.
“That’s why I think that in Europe I’m sure I’m not going to play anymore. I want to play in Arabia, ”she stressed.
The Portuguese star also refused to join Leo Messi in the United States league. “I think the Saudi championship is much better and in time it will be very strong,” he said.
“Cristiano has opened Pandora’s box and now everyone is going to Arabia, coincidence or not,” he stressed.
The former Real Madrid player assured that “in three years (Saudi Arabia) it would be the fifth best league in the world but, if it continues like this, this year it will go to the Turkish and Dutch leagues.”
“Where Cristiano is, there is more interest and I knew that the Arab League would be like that. Not only this season, because surely more people will go next year”, he predicted.
