The Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, has advanced this Tuesday in the last Council of Ministers before the general elections of July 23 that “now it was time to approve this Royal Decree for the deployment of this new FP model that comes into force for the academic year 2023-2024 and that will be definitive for the academic year 2024-2025”.
In this way, the law that orders the Vocational Training system is fully developed and that allows the implementation of the standard approved in March 2022 in its entirety.
Alegría stressed that the new Vocational Training model has been a “country project” for the Executive which has resulted in 1.2 million young people already studying Vocational Training.
The norm that contemplates different itineraries in which cycles of different degrees and international double degree offers can be combined.
With this new FP system, it will be possible to expand the offer in more than 9,000 training programs of very different durations and types, structured in degrees, from the so-called “microtrainings” (grade A), to FP titles and specialization courses or master’s degrees. Vocational Training (grade D and E, respectively).
The objective is to bring Vocational Training closer to the public to ensure its dual nature (teaching and employment) through training in the center and in the company for a longer period of time. In addition, the norm makes clear the functions of the tutor of the center and that of the company.
For the first time, new modules are included in all intermediate and advanced level cycles linked to digitization, sustainability, technical English or employability, while incorporating new profiles into the FP system, such as company experts, who They may teach or others who may be mentors.
Another figure will be that of company prospectors, who will facilitate contact between the center and the surrounding companies.
Alegría has highlighted that the new system eliminates “barriers to young people and students who even dropped out, with more flexible training” and has stressed that all are “creditable and official” training regardless of the hours they receive.
“The accreditation of professional skills is expedited and recognizes the professional experience of a worker”, he said while the regulation establishes a professional orientation strategy that will accompany students and workers throughout their professional lives and promotes internationalization .
In March 2022, the plenary session of the Senate gave the final green light to the new organic law on Vocational Training, which will make it possible to accumulate work experience from the beginning.
The law had the endorsement of employers and unions and was approved by 142 votes in favor, 102 against and 19 abstentions.
128 million to finance other formations
On the other hand, the Executive has approved subsidies worth 128 million euros destined to finance training aimed at workers, employed and unemployed and that will benefit more than 70,000 people.
These aids will be aimed at low-skilled workers, who are currently in ERTE or with temporary contracts, workers in need of more specialized training, and the unemployed who want to train in highly strategic sectors.
“It is an important investment to improve opportunities and future employability”, Alegría pointed out.
