Santander (EFE).- More than 2,200 ballot boxes are enabled this Sunday, May 28, so that half a million Cantabrians can elect the mayors of the 102 municipalities in the region and the 35 deputies that will make up the new Parliament of Cantabria.
Until 8:00 p.m., 507,362 Cantabrians are called to go to the polls, of which 3,471 are foreigners residing in Cantabria who can only cast the ballot this 28M for the municipality in which they are registered.
Of this total number of voters, more than 41,000 Cantabrians who are residing in another country can choose to choose who will be their next mayor and their regional deputies after 28M and some 15,000 have already designated their representatives in their sepia and white envelopes with the absentee ballot.
More than 2,400 members at tables
To ensure that everything runs smoothly and with security guarantees, the Government Delegation in Cantabria, which deals with the operation of the municipal elections, and the regional Executive, which is in charge of the part of the regional elections and entities under 28M They have arranged more than 9,000 people to ensure the normality of the process.
In front of the polls in this 28M there will be more than 2,400 table members with almost 5,000 substitutes, as well as half a thousand representatives of the administrations.
The security device will be made up of 1,300 agents of the Civil Guard, the National Police and the local police, who will ensure the right to vote from this past Saturday night until Monday morning.
In contention: 35 deputies and 1,040 councilors
In these elections, the Cantabrians designate the 35 deputies who will form the Parliament of Cantabria as of June 22, and the 102 mayors and 1,040 councilors who will constitute the region’s municipalities from the 17th of next month.
In the development of this electoral day in Cantabria, the expense will be more than 700,000 euros for the 2,276 ballot boxes, 700 booths, 500,000 envelopes and 12,496 manuals for the members of the polling stations.
At these tables there will be two ballot papers, one in sepia for the regional elections and the other white for the local ones, while in the municipalities where lower-level entities are elected, there will be a green envelope.
Results for ‘tablet’
In total, 831 polling stations will be open, 8 more than in the 2019 elections, spread over 128 districts, 460 sections and 425 polling stations.
All municipalities will have a tablet (427 in total) to transmit the data, which can be viewed live from 9:00 p.m.
Twenty accessible voting kits for people with visual disabilities have also been set up.
