Sao Paulo (EFE).-
The Brazilian singer-songwriter Rita Lee, one of the most recognized artists in Brazil and known as “The Queen of Rock”, died Monday night at her residence in the city of Sao Paulo at the age of 75, the family reported.
Author of hits such as ‘Lança perfume’, ‘Baila comigo’ and ‘Mania de você’, the Brazilian artist had been coping with lung cancer that was discovered in 2021.
“We announced the death of Rita Lee, at her residence, in São Paulo, late last night and surrounded by all the love of her family, as she always wanted,” was the message posted by her family on Instagram.
The singer-songwriter was one of the most established and recognized artists of the South American giant where she will always be remembered as ‘the queen of Brazilian rock’.
Irreverent and rebellious, she lived between psychedelia, drugs and the peace that her husband, Roberto de Carvalho, gave her until the last of her days, her sentimental and professional partner for more than 47 years, and the father of her three children.
The artist’s remains will be veiled starting this Wednesday at the Ibirapuera Park Planetarium in the capital of São Paulo.
