Valencia (EFE).- The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts for the next few days the warmest episode recorded in April in the Valencian Community since at least 1950, in an April already dry and, in fact, in one of the countries that has rained the least in this community since data is available.
Thus, the Region will register very high temperatures this week, especially in the interior of Alicante and Valencia, where Friday and Saturday temperatures can exceed 35 degrees, while the breezes will promote a “cooler” environment, with maximum temperatures close to 25 , but also high for dates.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the maximum temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees in inland areas of the province of Valencia and on Friday it is possible that the maximum temperatures continue to rise a little more, and 30 degrees would also be reached in a general way in inland areas of the entire Community.
According to Aemet, although on the coast it is not likely that temperatures will be as high as in the interior, in the Valencian Community average we will have a few days, especially Friday and Saturday, with average temperatures more typical of the beginning of July.
The forecast is that we are facing “the warmest episode” recorded in a month of April in this community since at least 1950.
The hottest and extremely dry
With the data forecast for the last days of the month, April 2023 will also have a “temperature anomaly” close to +3 degrees, which will make it, together with April 2014, the warmest since there are records in the Community
The rainfall in April in the Valencian Community average until today is 2.2 liters per square meter, which represents a “deficit of 96%”.
With a high probability, April is going to be “extremely dry”, the driest since there are records, and Aemet forecasts an end of the month with “early July temperatures”.
As highlighted, March was also extremely dry, like April, so the cumulative deficit during the two-month period is 95%, so it is the driest March-April two-month period since there are records and contrasts with that of 2022, which was the wettest.
A very dry year, coupled with summer temperatures give rise to very high fire risk rates, he warns.
Forest fire risk
The Generalitat has reported this afternoon that the level of pre-emergencies due to the risk of forest fires is “high” (orange) tomorrow, Tuesday, in almost the entire Valencian Community, except the coast of the province of Castellón, where the risk is medium/low.
Given these circumstances, the Emergency Coordination Center has prepared a series of preventive measures, including preventive surveillance flights in the most sensitive areas and which will be carried out in areas with a high and extreme level of risk between 1:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m.
The regional secretary for Emergencies, José María Ángel, has held a series of meetings with the operatives, consortiums and firefighters to plan the response to “any outbreak of fire that we may have”, and has analyzed, with Aemet data, the areas with higher risk.
