Of the 13 new courts, 10 correspond to exclusive courts for violence against women, which, according to the Generalitat, means consolidating “the commitment of the Valencian Community to launch a specialized jurisdiction in matters of gender violence with the aim of improve care for victims.
Specifically, the Ministry of Justice proposes, in the judicial district of Valencia, the creation of court number 6 for Violence against Women and the creation of Criminal Courts number 20 and 21 with exclusive jurisdiction over gender violence.
For the judicial districts of Sagunt and Xàtiva, the creation of court number 1 for Violence against Women is requested for the capital of Camp de Morvedre (with jurisdiction also over Massamagrell) and another with identical numbering for the capital of La Costera.
Alicante, Castellón and Valencia: Bravo claims 13 new courts
For its part, the Alicante judicial district calls for the creation of two new judicial bodies: the Violence against Women Court number 4 and the Criminal Court number 11 with exclusive and exclusive jurisdiction in matters of gender violence.
The same jurisdiction will be for the number 1 of Elda, which will also assume the cases of Villena.
For the province of Castellón, the reinforcement of two more courts for violence against women is requested, which will be number 2 in Vila-real and number 2 for the capital.
Minister Bravo has underlined the commitment of the Generalitat to achieve specialized and exclusive justice in matters of gender violence, with specialized personnel and support resources for both professionals and victims.
He recalled that in 2022 the Valencian Community was the autonomy that created the most exclusive courts for violence against women, with five new ones to reach the 21 exclusive courts that currently exist.
In 2023, if the demands of the Ministry are met, the Community will have 31 to “place victims of gender violence at the center, guaranteeing specialized care provided with victim care services made up of professionals with training and with experience,” he said.
In addition, the head of Justice has claimed that the positions of all these exclusive courts for Violence against Women are for magistrates, since “specialization is essential to guarantee quality.”
Finally, the entry into operation of the Social Court number 19 in the judicial district of Valencia and the Courts of First Instance and Instruction number 4 of Quart de Poblet and number 5 of Carlet are also requested.
On the other hand, Gabriela Bravo has highlighted that the number of positions for magistrates in the collegiate bodies of the Administration of Justice in the Valencian Community must be increased by 23.
In this way, it calls for the creation of a position for president of the Criminal Appeals Section and a magistrate for the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice; another three for the Administrative Litigation Chamber and one more for the Social Chamber.
Regarding the Provincial Court of Valencia, the councilor considers that it is necessary to expand the organic staff with one more magistracy position in each of its civil (6th, 7th, 8th and 11th) and criminal (1st to 5th) sections. as well as another one for Section 10, specialized in family and disability matters.
Regarding the Provincial Court of Castellón, it has requested the creation of a magistracy position for the 3rd and 4th sections, while for the Provincial Court of Alicante it requests the creation of a magistracy position for the 1st Section (specialized in gender violence) and another four for the 4th, 5th and 6th sections, based in the capital and the 9th, which is located in Elche.
Finally, the councilor calls for the expansion of the staff of the Prosecutor’s Office so that it is in accordance with the size of the Valencian judicial plant, “since the four positions contemplated by the Ministry’s forecast, in Valencia, Alicante, Elche and Castellón are insufficient” .
