Barcelona (EFE).- En Comú Podem (ECP) will claim to have the Ministry of Transport in the next State Government in order to improve the management of Barcelona’s commuter rail and ensure its transfer to the Generalitat of Catalonia.
In a press conference organized by the EFE Agency, within the framework of the cycle with the candidates for Barcelona of the different political formations on the occasion of the 23J generals, the head of the Sumar-En Comú Podem list, Aina Vidal, has claimed For its formation, the responsibility of having the Ministry of Transport in an eventual reissue of the current progressive Government, a portfolio that today is held by the Catalan Raquel Sánchez (PSC).
According to Aina Vidal, “the delays and constant problems that Cercanías presents in Catalonia, with four out of five days with serious incidents” lead her to conclude that “it is enormously disappointing that a Catalan minister has set aside the management of Cercanías, and has prioritized other issues such as the expansion of the airport (of Barcelona) and the Fourth Belt”.
“Rodalies should be synonymous with efficiency, and for this reason we want to have the Ministry of Transport or Development, because what has been done in the last four years has not been enough and we need a Catalan voice to defend Cercanías, as well as develop it in other parts of the territory where they do not exist, as in Lleida”.
Aina Vidal has also been in favor of increasing train frequencies and recovering the project for various orbital lines that do not pass through Barcelona.
“This is territorial cohesion, and for this reason we will ask to have this ministry”, pointed out the candidate for Sumar-En Comú Podem, who has admitted that her formation will continue to request the transfer of Cercanías to the Generalitat”, a transfer that according to Vidal, should be managed to improve “efficiency, time, and ultimately the quality of life”.
“Catalonia -he stressed- needs a refocus on Cercanías, and I believe that we can carry out this service much better than Minister Raquel Sánchez (PSC)”.
The commons also want Housing and Work
The head of the list of Sumar-En Comú Podem for Barcelona has explained that his formation would also like to be able to have the ministries of Housing and Labor and Social Security.
“We have relevant figures” who could manage the Ministry of Housing very well, he stressed, although he did not specify if he was referring to the former mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau because -asked about it- “she has to be the one who decides what she wants do, and you have to respect the times”.
