In the Catalan region, snowfall is forecast for today in the Aran Valley (Lleida) with accumulations of 20 centimeters in 24 hours above 1,100 meters, as well as gusts of wind of up to 100 kilometers per hour in the Pyrenees.
However, the wind will blow very strong in practically the entire community, with levels of up to 90 kilometers per hour on the coast of Tarragona and Ampurdán (Girona), where the maritime storm that affects the region will also be especially intense, with waves between 3 and 4 meters.
In the Valencian Community, also in orange, the gusts today will be up to 100 kilometers per hour in the interior of Castellón although they will also affect, according to forecasts, nearby areas of the coast.
In Aragon snowfalls are expected with a thickness of 10 centimeters above 1,100 meters in the Huesca Pyrenees and between 15 and 20 centimeters in some areas of the western valleys.
The gusts there will be up to 100 kilometers per hour, although in general the wind will blow very strong throughout the Aragonese community.
The Navarre community is also on alert this Sunday, in yellow, for snowfall in the Pyrenees with a thickness of 5 centimeters from levels that will drop to 1,000-1,100 meters and with significant accumulations from 1,200 meters.
In addition, on the Cantabrian slope of Navarra, heavy rains are expected with accumulated amounts of up to 40 liters per square meter in 12 hours, and the same amounts due to persistent rainfall will also foreseeably occur in the Basque Country, on the Gipuzkoa coast.
On the other hand, the Balearic Islands is also under a yellow meteorological alert due to maritime storms and forecast waves of up to 3 meters on the island of Menorca.
