Seville, (EFE).- Inflation in Andalusia rose 6.3% in the interannual rate in January, one tenth more than at the end of 2022, and the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages registered a strong rebound, of 16.4%.
According to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), compared to the month of December, inflation fell in Andalusia by four tenths, although the year has started four tenths above the rate in Spain, which stood at 5 .9% year-on-year variation.
The other group that contributed the most to the rise in the CPI in January was that of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, with a rise of 9.1%. They are followed by hotels, cafes and restaurants, with an increase of 8.9%, followed by household goods, with 8.7%, transport, with 6.2%, and others, with 5%.
Housing falls 12.5%
On the contrary, housing prices fell by 12.5%, the only chapter that experienced a drop in January.
Price increases were also recorded, although more moderate, in the heading of clothing and footwear, of 2.9%, due to the sales in January; teaching, 2.7%; communications, 2.5%, leisure and culture, 2% and medicine, 1.6%.
The INE maintains the annual variation rate of underlying inflation -index excluding unprocessed food and energy products- at 7.5%, five tenths more than that registered in December and the highest since December 1986. EFE
