Madrid (EFE) of April.
Traffic has called for prudence in driving, given that this same period of 2022 resulted in 27 deaths.
To regulate these trips, the DGT has designed a device that will start at three in the afternoon on Friday of Dolores and will end on Easter Monday, April 10, a holiday in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, La Rioja, Navarra and Basque Country.
Remember Traffic that this holiday period is one of the most complicated of the year, as the volume of trips increases in a short space of time, with similar origins and destinations on the same days and times.
As usual, the operation will take place in two phases. The first begins this Friday at 3:00 p.m. and ends at midnight on Sunday, April 2, a period in which 4.3 million road movements are expected.
The second phase, more important than the previous one due to the volume of trips along the entire road network, will begin on Wednesday, April 5, and will end on Monday, April 10.
Traffic indicates as the most conflictive hours for circulation between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. this Friday and, in that interval, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Hours in which there may be traffic problems and delays at the exits of large cities, as well as at the accesses to coastal tourist areas as long-distance journeys at the beginning of the holiday period coincide with the usual short movements at the end of week.
On Saturday morning, the intense traffic leaving the large urban centers will continue (between 9:00 and 14:00), while those who return on Sunday, April 2, may encounter delays in the evening (especially between 18:00). and 10:00 p.m.) in the accesses to the cities, although less intense than other Sundays.
To guarantee safety and fluidity on the roads, the DGT has the maximum availability of technical means (fixed and mobile speed control radars, helicopters and drones, as well as cameras and camouflaged vans to control the use of mobile phones and seat belt) and humans.
27 deceased during Holy Week 2022
Traffic recalls that throughout the entire special operation of Holy Week last year, 25 fatal accidents were recorded in which 27 people lost their lives.
To avoid more deaths, the DGT insists on the importance of not adopting risky behaviors behind the wheel such as distractions, speed or alcohol, the latter causing one in three fatal accidents.
In fact, according to the 2021 report of the National Institute of Toxicology, almost half of the drivers killed in traffic accidents who underwent an autopsy had the presence of alcohol or other drugs in their blood.
A percentage that rises to 75 percent in the specific case of alcohol.
Traffic also warns about the danger of walking on the road when any incident occurs in the vehicle and the importance of adopting all the necessary precautions, especially on highways or dual carriageways where vehicles travel at high speed.
And as always, to enjoy these days, the DGT recommends planning the trip in advance with a complete set-up of the vehicle, avoiding the most unfavorable days and times as much as possible and always looking for the best route to avoid unforeseen events.
From the Twitter accounts @informacionDGT and @DGTes or the news bulletins on radio and television, as well as on the 011 telephone, the traffic situation is reported in real time and any incidents that may exist.
