Seville, (EFE).- The average salary in Andalusia stood at 1,624 euros per month in 2022, with a growth of 4.3% compared to the previous year, which is equivalent to an annual gain of 796 euros and 66 euros per month, although it lost 4.1% of purchasing power -857 euros per year- due to high inflation.
According to the Adecco Monitor on Salaries in Andalusia, compared to the Spanish average of 1,822 euros, the average salary in Andalusia is 10.9% lower, with a difference of 198 euros per month, which is equivalent to 2,377 euros per year.
This difference implies that an average wage earner in Andalusia must work a whole year to obtain the same amount that an average worker in Spain receives in less than eleven months.
In 2022, the Andalusian average salary rose 4.3% compared to the previous year, two tenths more than in Spain, although after discounting the 8.7% variation in consumer prices in the Andalusian community, it meant a loss of 4.1% in the purchasing power of the Andalusian salary, which translates into 757 euros less per year.
This loss in purchasing power, although close, is somewhat greater than that of Spain as a whole (-4%), according to the report by the human resources group.
The average salary in Andalusia in services
By sectors, in 2022 the average salary increased in the three main sectors in Andalusia: services with the highest increase of 4.6%, followed by Industry with 4.3% and construction with 1.6%.
Despite the increases, the three sectors exhibited an average remuneration lower than the respective sectoral average for the whole of Spain and the greatest difference is for Industry (1,801 euros), which is 11.7% lower than the national average for the sector (2,040 euros) and represents 239 euros less per month or 2,872 euros less per year.
When analyzing the evolution of the purchasing power of the average salary from 2017 to the present, the result is also negative with an accumulated loss of 3.6%, while for Spain as a whole it is 2.5%.
In current euros, this loss is equivalent to 56 euros less per month in the Andalusian community compared to 44 euros less for the whole of Spain, that is, for the average remuneration in Andalusia to recover the purchasing power it had in 2017, it would have to increase by 56 euros per month (675 euros per year).
According to this report, Andalusia is one of the seven autonomous communities with low wages and ranks thirteenth among all Spanish communities, just above Extremadura, the Canary Islands, the Region of Murcia and Castilla y León. EFE
