Logroño, (EFE).- The La Rioja Executive has agreed this Wednesday to request the Government of Spain to declare a catastrophic area for the damages caused by the latest storms for 72 affected municipalities and a valuation of more than 6.3 million euros for the damage caused.
This was announced by the Minister of Local Policy, Daniel Osés, in an informative conference, after the extraordinary meeting of the Governing Council, in which the reports requesting aid for the damages caused by the last storms in June and July.
In addition to this request for the declaration of a catastrophic area, the reports issued by the Government of La Rioja in the field of infrastructure damaged by storms have also been added.
Most of the damage occurred on the 7th in the area of La Rioja Baja, especially in Rincón de Soto, where two storms of water, hail and wind caused the overflow of the Lodosa Canal.
In addition, the storms registered on June 22 in Huércanos and its surroundings caused extensive damage to agricultural infrastructure and the population center.
Osés has specified that, while State aid arrives, the La Rioja government will also provide funds to speed up the repair of the damage caused.
It has also reported that it makes itself available to the Government of Spain in providing the necessary documentation to help repair the damage caused in the shortest possible time.
