Madrid (EFE) to the peninsula and the Balearic Islands have risen by 46.7% compared to the same period in 2022.
According to the latest balance made public this Monday by the Ministry of the Interior, from January 1 to that date the number of migrants arriving in Spain by sea increased by 1%, with 13,487 entries in 642 boats, compared to 13,355 in 608 vessels accounted for until July 15, 2022.
Arrivals by sea to the peninsula and the Balearic Islands are up, with 5,781 in 467 vessels, compared to 3,941 in 386 in the same period of the previous year; however, entries from the Canary Islands have decreased, with 7,590 (155 boats) compared to 9,308 (204).
The total number of migrants arriving by sea and land amounts to 14,021, 6.5% less than in the same period of 2022 when 15,002 entries were recorded.
The number of immigrants arriving irregularly in Ceuta and Melilla by jumping the border fence decreased by 67.6% (534 entries, compared to 1,647 in 2022), while by sea it increased by 20.3% to Melilla and the 4% those who arrived in Ceuta.
