Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The National Executive Commission of the Canary Islands Coalition has ratified this Monday that its deputy in Congress will not give an affirmative vote to an investiture in the event that Vox or Sumar, which it calls “the extremes”, participate in the Government of Spain.
The general secretary of CC, Fernando Clavijo, recalled after the meeting that the vote of the elected deputy, Cristina Valido, is not decisive to form a majority, but it will be throughout the legislature to carry out certain issues.
For this reason, Coalición Canaria would be willing to negotiate laws, budgets or any other agreement with the future executive.
In the elections of July 23, Coalición Canaria obtained one of the fifteen deputies of the Canary Islands and none of the eleven senators.
Clavijo, who is president of the Government of the Canary Islands in coalition with the PP, said that the repetition of elections “is not desirable.”
“We will sit down to negotiate the best for the Canary Islands, but those scenarios remain to be seen,” he explained.
Since election night, Clavijo claims to have received the call from the Acting Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and the Popular Party candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, with whom he has held initial talks while waiting to start more formal negotiations in the coming days.
“Everything is still very incipient, there are many hours left until the Congress of Deputies is constituted on August 17,” he said.
Cristina Valido insisted that not everything is based on the investiture vote. “We may not vote at the investiture but be very necessary in the future for the approval of laws, budgets or any other agreement.”
The party leadership has carried out an analysis of the electoral results in each of the islands and especially the panorama that the elections have produced, which has given rise to a “very fragmented” Congress of Deputies and with “very complex arithmetic”.
For the CC leader, a period of long negotiations opens over the next few days in which the position of his party will be based on maintaining the red lines to Vox and Sumar.
“We will not be in any of the extremes, because the extremes have been the ones that have caused this instability, nor in any ideological camp,” he announced.
“If a serious government proposal arises that is not the result of frivolity and that is committed to the problems of the Canary Islands, we are in a position to sit down and talk,” he added.
According to the regional president, CC is not going to participate in any “media circus”, but will try to provide “tranquility and stability” and fulfill its commitments with its 110,000 voters.
Regarding the division of nationalism, Clavijo said that they tried until the last moment to compete with Nueva Canarias, but “when you face personalism and egocentrism it is difficult to reach agreements.” EFE
