Saint-Germain (France) (EFE) Carlos Rodríguez, who saved his third place, stalked by the British Adam Yates.
The day that ended at the top of Bettex, in the first category, had little battle in the fight for the yellow jersey, in which Vingegaard resisted Pogacar’s only attack and gave up sprinting at the finish line, in which they entered together practically equal and they are still separated by 10 seconds in the general.
The excitement was in the fight for third place, in which Adam Yates started fifth with a deficit of 37 seconds with respect to Rodríguez and attacked on the last climb, which he entered with an advantage of 18 seconds.
The Spaniard, winner on Saturday in Morzine, was forced to defend himself, despite further distancing Australian Jai Hindley, who was a second behind and who entered 1.16 minutes after the Ineos leader.
Rodríguez is still third, now 5.21 behind Vingegaard, while Yates is fourth, 19 seconds behind the Spaniard and Hindley moves to fifth place, 1.17 behind the podium.
Oblivious to that fight, Poels signed the second victory for the Bahrain team after the one achieved by Pello Bilbao in Issoire, which he dedicated to the Swiss Gino Mader, a teammate who died in a fall in the last Tour of Switzerland.
The 35-year-old veteran cyclist, winner of the 2016 Liège-Bastona-Liège, managed to raise his arms for the first time in a three-week race, although he was credited with winning stage 15 of the 2011 Vuelta a España after the disqualification for doping of Juan José Cobo.
