Logroño, (EFE) established for areas severely affected by an emergency.
This announcement was made this Saturday by his Minister for Local Policy, Infrastructures and the Fight against Depopulation, Daniel Osés, who visited Rincón de Soto and Aldeanueva de Ebro to find out about the incidents caused by the storms yesterday, Friday, and assess the damage produced.
In a note, he has indicated that this aid period expires on the 10th, but he has proposed seven more days, according to the criteria of the Civil Protection technicians.
Osés has indicated that the purpose of his visits this Saturday is “to assess the damage caused in these towns by yesterday’s strong storms in order to work, as soon as possible, on its repair.”
It also wishes to include them in the same procedure initiated for the declaration of a series of municipalities in La Rioja as an area seriously affected by an emergency after the rains and storms last June.
“The priority is to attend to all the affected spaces as soon as possible and work immediately on their recovery”, stressed the counselor, who thanked all the actions carried out this Friday, in an “urgent and effective” manner, by SOS Rioja, Civil Protection, security forces, municipalities, neighbors and volunteers, “thanks to which no major damage has been regretted.”
On the other hand, it has detailed that the strong storms of rain, wind and hail that occurred on Friday afternoon in La Rioja Baja have left records of 46 liters per square meter in Rincón de Soto; 31.2 in Alfaro and 34.6 in Yerga.
The storms affected traffic on the LR-115, near Rincón de Soto, with difficulty in traffic due to accumulation of mud and stones; as well as the N-232 and AP-68 highways, which were also affected.
The railway line was flooded in this section, which forced the closure of rail traffic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, which has been restored at 6:00 a.m. this Saturday.
Data from the regional government indicate that, in total, 49 incidents were recorded, most of them in Rincón de Soto, especially due to the need to drain garages, premises and street cleaning.
The most relevant incidents occurred in a restaurant, on a cow farm and in different garages, without personal injuries.
