Madrid (EFE) cannot govern with only 150 deputies.
During a speech followed by an interview at a forum organized by El Debate in a Madrid hotel, Abascal has repeatedly warned Feijóo that he will need Vox to have a sufficient majority.
However, when asked about the possibility that there is no agreement and a blockade occurs, he stressed: “It will not be on our part, of course.”
Abascal has advocated calling a referendum on every major issue, including immigration and energy, a proposal he launched four years ago.
On the issue of abortion, he affirms that there will never be an agreement with the PP
He has indicated that on the issue of abortion they will never agree with the PP, being “a capital issue”, although not a red line.
And he has criticized Feijóo for assuming that he will accept an increase in highway tolls and has remarked that Vox will not accept the agreements that Sánchez has had “with the Brussels bureaucrats.”
“I see the candidate of the Popular Party as somewhat confused; in fact, he has begun to legislate and issue decrees before winning the elections and it is somewhat worrisome”, Abascal pointed out, in addition to adding that Feijóo “has changed the majority system in Spain and has said that now an absolute majority governs from the 150 deputies”.
“It is a big mistake to appear in an election assuming that one is the winner,” he added, and recommended that Feijóo “focus and focus on what is important”, which is to “throw” Pedro Sánchez out of Moncloa.
In Murcia, the electoral repetition seems to him the most “undesirable” scenario and offers an “outstretched hand” to the PP for that pact.
Rural world and language policy, priorities of the autonomous agreements
He has highlighted that in the autonomous agreements Vox has prioritized the rural world and language policy, as clues about the request of ministries in a negotiation.
Cordial bilingualism seems to him a “confusing term” and he advocates “schooling in Spanish at all stages” of education, because 50% in one language and 50% in another “causes problems very similar to linguistic immersion.”
The reforms he seeks do not fit in a legislature, since he wants “a historical transformation, which will take a long time”, since combating Catalan and Basque “disaffection” “is not going to be resolved overnight”.
“There is no doubt” Abascal has that if Vox governs the unions “they will go out to set fire to the streets”, while they have been “quiet as dead” in front of Sánchez.
He has also predicted that in ten years there could be social riots in Spain like the ones now in France, which are the fault of the “failure of multiculturalism”, although its president, Emmanuel Macron, blames “video games”.
Abascal regrets having abstained in some parliamentary votes, such as the one on European funds, since Vox did not comply with the promised infinite distance from socialism.
