Paris (EFE).- At least 719 people were arrested and 45 police officers were injured in the fifth consecutive night of riots in France due to the death of a teenager at the hands of a police officer, although according to the French government it was a night “more calm” than the previous ones.
“Calmer night thanks to the resolute action of the forces of order, which have made 427 arrests since the beginning of the evening,” French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin had pointed out through his Twitter account at 3 p.m. hours (1 GMT) in the morning.
At 8 in the morning (6 GMT), the figures were updated by his portfolio, which raised the total number of arrests for the night to 718, while the previous day at the same time he had reported 994 (later raised to 1,311 ).
