Logroño, (EFE).- The Government delegate in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz, has sent this Saturday a letter to the president of the regional Executive, Gonzalo Capellán, to speed up the declaration of an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency in the municipalities people from La Rioja affected by the torrential rains of June 21st.
In a statement, the Government Delegation in the community of La Rioja has explained that Chaplain has been asked to hold a meeting, as soon as possible, given the urgency of the actions that must be carried out and to generate peace of mind for the population of the affected municipalities.
Arraiz recalls in the letter that this procedure was initiated by the previous regional Executive and, therefore, now requires the impulse of the current one to be able to request this declaration from the Government of Spain and send this request to the Ministry of the Interior together with the Civil Protection report with damage assessment.
On June 23, the previous La Rioja government requested the declaration of an “area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency” to the 19 La Rioja municipalities most affected by the storms of the previous days.
The municipalities with the most registered damages were: Aguilar del Río Alhama, Alesón, Alfaro, Arenzana de Abajo, Cenicero, Cervera del Río Alhama, Fuenmayor, Haro, Huércanos, Lardero, Logroño, Nájera, Navarrete, Sotés, Torremontalbo, Tricio, Uruñuela, Ventosa and Villamediana de Iregua.
