San Millán de la Cogolla (La Rioja), (EFE) President of the Government of La Rioja, the popular Gonzalo Capellán.
This has been defended during his speech in plenary session of the regional Parliament in which he has taken office as the ninth president of the Executive of La Rioja, held in the monastery of Yuso de San Millán de la Cogolla, where the Statute of Autonomy and declared a World Heritage Site for being the “cradle” of Spanish.
Another of those principles that he has cited is that of a policy that is close to citizens, that “listens to their real problems and attends to their needs as the only way to bridge the open fissure between society and politics.”
“The municipality as the heart of regional policy, making the 174 municipalities of La Rioja an essential, first and direct instance” from which “to develop the actions that structure the territory and offer the most immediate service to the people of La Rioja”, he added .
The fifth that has stood out has been that of “the defense of the interests of La Rioja and the people of La Rioja as the only north that illuminates the path of our policy.”
“From now on it is time to descend from these principles to action, from a political program to a good effective government”, added Capellán, who was accompanied by the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra; the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.
The former presidents of the La Riojan governments Concha Adreu, José Ignacio Ceniceros, Pedro Sanz, José Ignacio Pérez Sáenz and Luis Javier Rodríguez Moroy also attended.
A land of equality
He has also referred to the fact that “La Rioja is a place of opportunities”, where “the son of a housewife and a humble blacksmith without studies -as is his case- can study, train, go abroad to enrich his curriculum, reach your goals and decide how and where you want to build your life project”.
That is what he wants for the people of La Rioja, “a land of freedom, equality, of opportunities, where all people can develop their abilities, their talent, their aspirations, their dreams…”
The main goal in this new stage is “to give myself over to helping this land become the place where each family, children, youth, adults, seniors, can fight for their dreams and make them come true.”
“Among all of us, we must achieve that La Rioja is that exceptional land, where all people enjoy opportunities, where they can live every day with a better quality of life, in an inclusive, safe and cohesive society”, he concluded.
