Santander (EFE).- The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) forecasts more than 1.42 million trips throughout this summer in Cantabria: 685,000 in July and 789,000 in August.
The first operation out of the Special Summer Operation will begin this Friday, June 30, at 3:00 p.m., and will continue until Sunday, July 2, at 12:00 p.m. In these three days, the forecast is that 72,000 movements will be registered on the main roads of Cantabria.
In addition to special operations such as this, traffic regulation and surveillance measures will be established every weekend of the summer period.
In Cantabria, to carry out these measures on interurban roads, the Traffic Sector of the Civil Guard will deploy up to 180 agents, counting on the collaboration, on urban roads, of the local police from the different municipalities of the region.
Likewise, in Cantabria there are 10 operational radars, one of them a section (on the N-629, between the towns of Limpias and Ampuero), and it has three mobile control cameras and seat belts, two of them on the A -67 and one on the A-8.
In addition to this surveillance, three special campaigns will be carried out to intensify control of two of the concurrent factors in the accident rate, such as speed (from July 10 to 16) and alcohol and other drugs (from August 14 to 20). .
The third campaign, on the weekend of September 9 and 10, will focus on motorcycle travel, a group whose accident figures do not stop growing.
