Logroño, (EFE).- The University of La Rioja (UR) multiplies by 3 each euro invested and represents 1.01% of the region’s GDP, according to the report “30 years of contribution of the University of La Rioja to your region”, which addresses, for the first time, the results obtained by this academic institution between 1992 and 2022 and its economic impact generated in the region.
The rector, Juan Carlos Ayala, presented this Thursday the results of the report, commissioned by the UR at a cost of 14,000 euros, together with its authors, the professor of Applied Economics at the University of Barcelona, Jordi Suriñach, and the former manager of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and founder of the company Utrans, Francesc Solá.
The study aims to be a balance between what the UR has invested in its 30 years of activity and what has returned to La Rioja society, through the taxes of this community, as well as the economic impact that the academic institution has generated, in the short term, for which the year 2019, which was the last pre-pandemic, has been taken as a reference, they have reported.
In 2019, thanks to the activity of the UR, more than 123 million euros were billed in La Rioja, which represents 1.01% of regional GDP.
This amount in billing, divided by 365 days per year, gives a result of 338,000 euros for the regional group and 454,000 euros for the State.
