Madrid (EFE).- The Gallery of the Royal Collections of Madrid has opened its doors today with a large influx of public and the 4,000 free tickets sold out for the four days of open doors enabled by National Heritage.
As reported by Patrimonio, this first day is being a success, with long queues starting early in the morning at the access located next to the viewpoint of the cornice of the Royal Palace of Madrid.
The rest of the days with free admission in which it will be possible to contemplate the works of art that the Spanish kings collected during five centuries, will be next July 5, 6 and 7.
An exhibition of 650 pieces
As of July 8, the public can access this new museum by purchasing tickets both in person at the ticket office and on the gallery’s website, which will be open from Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. afternoon (Sundays and holidays until 7:00 p.m.), and also with free admission from Monday to Thursday from 6:00 p.m.
Works by El Greco, Caravaggio, Velázquez, Goya and Bernini, among many other artists, can be seen in this building, which has received ten architecture awards, located between the Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Palace of Madrid and which opens with an exhibition of 650 pieces.
Along with this exhibition, the building also houses the founding wall of Madrid from the 9th century and an exhibition of vehicles and carriages, the first of the temporary exhibitions organized by Patrimonio Nacional, a public body responsible for state-owned assets that come from the Spanish Crown and which manages 170,000 works of art.
