London (EFE).- The trial against the American actor Kevin Spacey, accused of 12 crimes of sexual assault, starts this Wednesday at the Old Bailey criminal court in London.
The 63-year-old Oscar-winning interpreter went to the court hearing this morning by taxi and greeted the journalists and onlookers smilingly at the gates of the court before the start of a process that will last four weeks.
He faces twelve charges of sexual assault
The actor faces a total of 12 charges for sexual assault, indecent assault and causing a person to engage in non-consensual sexual activity between 2001 and 2013, all of which have been rejected by Spacey.
As revealed by the British Prosecutor’s Office in May 2022, the actor is accused of five assaults allegedly committed between 2005 and 2013, four of them in London and one in Gloucestershire (western England), in which a man who is now found was affected. in their forties and two other men who are now in their thirties.
Last November, the Prosecutor’s Office added another seven additional charges against the interpreter, which included sexual assaults against a man between 2001 and 2004.
The actor denies any criminality
The actor lives on horseback between London, where he is domiciled in the Waterloo neighborhood, in the south of the capital, and the United States, where his family is.
In a preliminary hearing held last June before Westminster Magistrates Court, the actor’s lawyer, Patrick Gibbs, indicated that his client “categorically denies any and all criminality in this case.”
The lawyer then pointed out that Spacey, star of the television series House Of Cards and iconic films such as “American Beauty”, returned to the United Kingdom “to establish his innocence” and “proceed with his life”.
