The PP has accepted this Tuesday the holding of this debate for two in Atresmedia, arguing that this communication group was the first to address them to propose an electoral debate, specifically on May 29.
Subsequently, sources from the PSOE have welcomed the celebration of this face-to-face between Sánchez and Feijóo and have reiterated the acceptance of the Prime Minister to attend the rest of the debates raised by the different media, including debates for two and four.
“We regret that the PP is rejecting the rest of the debates that the media are asking for,” added the socialist sources.
For their part, PP sources have indicated that, beyond the face-to-face between Sánchez and Feijóo already confirmed, Atresmedia has taken note of the possibility of a seven-person debate between the candidates of the PSOE, PP, Sumar, Vox, ERC, PNV and EH Bildu.
However, the PSOE has accused the PP of lying on this aspect, since it ensures that Atresmedia has not offered a debate to seven but to four.
The PP refused to meet with the PSOE at the request of RTVE to negotiate a debate
Precisely this Tuesday the PP had refused to meet with the PSOE at the request of RTVE to negotiate an electoral debate between Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo on the public channel, since the popular ones consider that it is “a crude use” of this means of communication of the State by the party that is in charge of the Government.
Until now, the PSOE has confirmed Sánchez’s attendance at the debates raised by four communication groups, Prisa, RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset, in a face-to-face format with Feijóo and also together with the candidates of the other two main parties: Vox and Add.
For its part, the PP had offered to hold two debates. One with a format either face to face between Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Pedro Sánchez, or debate three including Yolanda Díaz; and another to seven in which the main parties -PP, PSOE, Vox and Sumar- were joined by ERC, PNV and EH Bildu.
