Logroño, Jun 22 (EFE).- The PP recovers this Thursday the Presidency of the Parliament of La Rioja after four years occupied by the PSOE, once the popular ones obtained an absolute majority in the elections on May 28.
The Parliament of La Rioja is constituted this noon with the promise or oath of the Constitution and the Statute of La Rioja of the 33 new deputies, of which 17 are from the PP, 12 from the PSOE, 2 from Vox, a political formation that is incorporated for the first time to the Chamber, and 2 from Podemos-IU.
In this eleventh legislature, Ciudadanos has been left out, which in 2019 achieved 4 regional deputies, although the one who was its spokesperson, Belinda León, will now be part of the Chamber within the popular group.
From 1995 to 2019, the La Rioja Parliament has been chaired by the PP, the first 20 years with an absolute majority; and four years ago, when he lost the regional elections, he was replaced by the PSOE, which also acceded to the Government of La Rioja in coalition with Podemos and with the external support of the IU.
The plenary session of the constitution of the Parliament will begin with the old table, formed by Teresa Villuendas, of the PP, as president; Marta Fernández, from the PP, as first secretary; and Ángel Alda, from Vox, as second secretary.
The new president of the Chamber will be elected by secret ballot, as will the first and second vice-presidents and the first and second secretaries, with the initial forecast that they will only be occupied by members of the PP and PSOE.
Of the 33 deputies, 6 from the PP, 4 from the PSOE and 1 from Podemos-IU already held a seat in the last legislature, among them the current acting president of the Government of La Rioja and general secretary of the Rioja socialists, Concha Andreu, who also heads the Senate list for this community in the elections on July 23.
After the opening of the new regional legislature, the president of the Chamber, probably next week, will hold talks with the spokespersons of all the parliamentary groups to designate the candidate for president of the Government of La Rioja, who will be the popular Gonzalo Capellán.
Everything indicates that at the end of June the plenary session will be held in which the Chaplain will inform the Chamber about his Government program, which will be answered by the groups the following day, in which they will vote and be elected president of the regional Executive thanks to the absolute majority of his party.
Depending on when this plenary session is held, it is estimated that Chaplain will take office during the first days of July.
