Madrid, (EFE) heritage, according to a report by Randstad Research and the CEU San Pablo University.
In this way, the percentages of employment vary significantly by area of study, from 96.3% in computing to 77.1% in humanities, highlights the study “University youth and employability”, based on data from the National Institute of Statistics.
Important differences between the autonomies
The analysis, presented this week, also detects important differences in the unemployment rate between autonomous regions, where there is a disparity between unemployment among graduates and the rate in the general population, which does not always vary depending on the unemployment rate in each community.
The largest number of unemployed five years after finishing their higher education studies is in Andalusia, followed by Castilla-La Mancha, the Canary Islands, Extremadura, Galicia and Murcia.
Some non-stop races
On the other hand, the report explains, the employment situation in 2019 of university graduates from 2013-14 shows barely non-existent unemployment rates for some degrees, such as podiatry or electronic and aeronautical engineering.
And others above average
Conversely, other degrees suffered from an unemployment rate higher than that of the general population -above 14.1% in 2019- such as marine sciences, history, literature, philosophy, communication or biochemistry.
“Although it can be said that university education favors a lower than average unemployment rate in the vast majority of degrees, it cannot be said that this occurs in all cases,” warns the study by Randstad and the Universidad San Pablo CEU.
With lower and higher unemployment rate
Thus, the degrees with the lowest unemployment rate according to the employment situation of the graduates are with 0% Land and air transport service followed by Electronic engineering with 0.9%, Chiropody with 1% and in fourth place aeronautics with 1.6%. The list is completed by: Biomedical Engineering 1.8%; Medicine 2.1%; computer engineering 2.2%; Computer science 2.2%; Nutrition and Dietetics 2.4%; Engineering in Industrial Technology 2.6%; Software development and multimedia engineering 2.6%; Industrial and environmental chemical engineering 2.8%; Pharmacy 3.0% and Dentistry with 3.2%
On the opposite side we find Conservation and Restoration with an unemployment rate of 25.8%, followed by philosophy with 18.4% and literature with 17.3%.
