Vitoria, (EFE).- The Basque Country registers the lowest unemployment rate since 2008.
Specifically, unemployed people have decreased by 14,500.
Thus, the unemployment rate has been reduced to 7.4% in the second quarter of 2023 in the Basque Country.
They are 1.3 percentage points less than in the first quarter of 2023, according to Eustat data.
The number of unemployed people is estimated at 77,600 in the second quarter, the aforementioned 14,500 less than in the previous quarter.
Male and female unemployment rates, at 7%
The female unemployment rate fell by 1.7 percentage points, to 7.6% and the male unemployment rate stood at 7.2% (-1.1 percentage points).
By province, in Bizkaia unemployed people decreased by 8,700 and there was a decrease in the unemployment rate of 1.6 percentage points, standing at 8.2%.

In Álava unemployment fell by 3,100 people and the unemployment rate by 1.8 percentage points, to 7%.
In Gipuzkoa, the number of unemployed people fell by 2,900 and the unemployment rate by 0.8 percentage points, standing at 6.2%.
The Spanish unemployment rate is 12%
In May 2023, the unemployment rate for the European Union as a whole stood at 5.9% and that of Spain at 12.7%.
Regarding employment, it increases in all sectors, except industry.
In services by 8,600 (+1.2%), in construction by 2,500 people (+4.6%) and in the primary sector by 500 (+6.1%); On the other hand, in industry it decreased by 800 people (-0.4%).
The quality of employment also improves, since workers with permanent contracts increase by 11,100 compared to the previous quarter and, in relation to the previous year, they increase by 51,400 people. EFE
