Barcelona., (EFE)- The leader of the PP in the Barcelona City Council, Daniel Sirera, has affirmed that if the mayor of Junts, Xavier Trias, “had not reached an agreement with ERC” before the plenary session of the constitution and the socialist Jaume Collboni would not have detached himself from the commons, “perhaps things would have been different”.
This was stated in statements to EFE, after in the constitutive session of the Barcelona consistory, last Saturday, the four votes of the PP, added to those of the socialists and commoners, were decisive in electing Collboni as the new mayor and thus avoiding that the rod of command fell on Trias, the most voted on 28M.
Sirera has reproached Trias for his approach to Ernest Maragall to govern together: “Without the need to close any agreement with ERC, he reaches the plenary session of the constitution of the city council with a closed agreement with ERC, which is presented together with Bildu to the Senate.”
In this way, “Trias openly demonstrated that his will was to pay attention to what the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, had said days before, when he proposed a common sovereignist “front” in all the institutions.
“Trias, during the electoral campaign, took down the ‘estelada’ from the balcony and hid it on the nightstand. But then he decided to pay attention to the mandate that he received from President Aragonès ”, he denounced.
According to Sirera, “surely if Trias had presented himself alone, committing himself to govern alone, and Collboni had been on the other side with Ada Colau, perhaps things would have been different.”
“But since we cannot know this, I am satisfied with how things have gone,” added Sirera, since “Barcelona does not have a separatist government or one that includes Colau’s populists.”
Faced with Trias’s criticism of the PP for his “moral debt” with him, having been falsely accused during the government of Mariano Rajoy of having an account in Switzerland, Sirera replied: “I come here with absolutely clean hands, I have no debt beyond paying for the apartment in which I live. I am not responsible for that.”
Regarding the expression “que els bombin” (they darn them), which Trias dedicated to the PSC, PP and commons, Sirera considers that it “offends all the citizens of Barcelona”, since it is an “improper lack of respect for someone who he has been mayor of Barcelona” and transmits a “feeling of wanting to appropriate the institutions”.
SIRERA REPRESENTS ARAGONÈS FOR HIS “IMPROPER” SPEECH
On the other hand, Sirera explained that on the same Saturday, June 17, when the councilors of the Barcelona City Council, led by Collboni, attended the traditional reception at the Palau de la Generalitat, he felt “annoyed” by the speech of the Catalan president, Pere Aragonès, when he said that the election of the new mayor was casting “the shadow of a State agreement”.
“When the event was over, I got up, addressed the President of the Generalitat and told him that this had not been an institutional speech, that it was inappropriate for a President of the Generalitat,” Sirera recounted, before adding: “He did not He answered me, turned around and left.
Sirera has reproached Aragonès for acting as “the leader of ERC”, which represents “a lack of respect for all Catalans”, because “he must have an institutional function”. EFE
