Pamplona (EFE).- The regional directorates of UPN and PSN are going to adopt disciplinary measures against the councilors of Puente la Reina and Castejón, respectively, who did not follow the guidelines of these parties during the constitution on June 17 of the city councils of these two towns in Navarre.
UPN councilwomen who voted for EH Bildu in Puente la Reina
The head of the UPN list in Puente la Reina, Yolanda Tejero, and Carmen Soto, who was listed as number four in the regionalist candidacy, resigned this Monday as councilors after voting in favor of the mayoral candidate for EH Bildu in the session constitution last Saturday.
Likewise, they have presented their voluntary withdrawal from the party, reports UPN in a statement, which will also send a letter to the mayor Alberto Aceldegui demanding that he deliver his minutes, since he presented himself as an independent in the regionalist candidacy.
In the plenary session on Saturday, three of the four UPN councilors in Puente la Reina voted for the EH Bildu candidate, who already had a guaranteed majority with its own seven councilors. Thus, Itziar Imaz was invested as mayor by an absolute majority, with 10 votes in favour: seven from her group and three from UPN councilors.
Substitutes already designated
UPN’s fourth councilor, Alex Cárdenas, did endorse UPN candidate Yolanda Tejero, who did not vote for herself.
After these resignations, the regionalist formation has announced that they will be replaced as regionalist mayors by Carmen Esain Moreno and Francisco Martínez Nicolás, who were in positions 5 and 6 on the list presented by UPN in the last elections.
In this way, and pending the decision adopted by Aceldegui, the regionalist municipal group would be made up of Axel Cárdenas Roldán, Carmen Esain and Francisco Martínez.
Socialist councilors who voted for UPN in Castejón
The general secretary of the PSN, María Chivite, has announced this Monday that they will adopt the “appropriate measures” with the two councilors of Castejón who this Saturday voted in favor of the mayoralty for UPN, leaving the IU-Contigo candidate without office.
With a plenary session made up of 4 councilors from UPN, 4 from IU-Contigo, 2 from PSN and 1 from Somos Castejón, the socialist votes gave UPN the mayoralty, for the first time in a democracy after several socialist and IUN mayoralties.
Chivite: “We will make the appropriate file”
Chivite has pointed out to the media in Tudela that in this case “the guidelines that the organization itself gave to Castejón’s colleagues were not complied with and therefore we will make the appropriate file.”
He pointed out that the two socialist councilors, Aniceto Pérez Vicente and Gardenia Gregoria Coloma Moyano, are not affiliated with the PSN, “but the appropriate measures will be taken.”
The socialist leader has highlighted that they have already said “clearly” to IU-Contigo and to the whole of this Navarrese population that “these have not been the guidelines, which were to seek left-wing and progressive governments in the city councils, as we have done, for example, in Corella, in Peralta and in others”.
UPN councilor: “What I want is the best for Castejón”
For his part, Aniceto Pérez, who stood for the elections as an independent on the PSN list, explained to EFE that they called a meeting in Castejón to which they invited all the socialist affiliates to participate and, with those who attended, ” what was considered most appropriate for the people was decided.”
“What I want is the best for Castejón. I will always ratify myself in this, what moves me is the love for my people, for managing things well”, highlighted Pérez, who assured that at the meeting “we understood that there could be a collaboration with UPN to move things forward for the benefit of the people.”
After emphasizing that “there is nothing to hide, in life you do not have to hide anything, and even less in these things”, the councilor has considered that, being independent, the PSN will not open a file on him. “I do not want to harm any party, I want the good of my people”, he affirmed.
Pérez, who has declared that “the policy carried out in the towns is very different from that which is carried out at the level of Navarra, Spain or Europe”, has highlighted that “from UPN they have also said that, in this In any case, they are going to leave their acronyms as well as ours apart and that we are going to form a team and that each one occupies the best position that he knows how to perform ”.
“We are going to work in a team and so far they have shown it to me because some things have already improved”, commented the councilor, who pointed out that “you may have some discrepancies” with another party, but “I have no discrepancies at all in what what is the Liberty”.
