Madrid (EFE).- With just over a week to go before the polls, some city councils have not yet been able to designate the members that will constitute the electoral tables for 23J, since the numerous allegations that they are receiving -some of them quite picturesque – They are leading them to have to repeat draws, carry out a broader sampling or even propose that the first one to get to vote stays at the table.
Among the main excuses that those who cannot, or do not want to, be part of the tables are exposing, are having contracted trips from before the call for the elections and also being over 65 years of age, since their participation in the electoral process it is voluntary.
But there are also those who claim to have family events and weddings, tickets to festivals or concerts, and some have even claimed to be a conscientious objector so as not to have to comply with their electoral obligation.
First comers stay at the table.
In the province of Córdoba, incidents are being registered to form the polling stations in practically all judicial demarcations due to the high volume of “excuses” and “allegations” that are received every day.
The biggest problems are occurring especially in the municipality of Puente Genil, although they “trust” in being able to “balance” them.
Despite this, in the Priego de Córdoba demarcation they go further: they do not rule out that even the first voters to reach the electoral college have to occupy some of the unfilled positions.
Repetitions of the draw in Ávila, Córdoba or Zumárraga
In Ávila, this Friday they celebrate a new partial draw to designate the members of the remaining tables, since on June 22 they named the people who would be part of them, but the Electoral Board has admitted so many allegations that they have to repeat the lottery.
In this way, it is intended to guarantee that there are no “inconveniences” at the affected tables on Sunday, July 23.
In Zumarraga (Gipuzkoa) and Aguilar de Frontera (Córdoba) the formation of the tables is not guaranteed either, so second draws are already being held to complete them.
Go to nearby towns in Madrid
The avalanche of allegations that has been registered in Madrid has forced some municipalities, mostly small, not only to repeat the draws again among the citizens registered in that municipality, but they may even have to resort to nearby towns to form your table.
According to sources from the Madrid Zone Electoral Board have advanced to EFE, almost 11,000 allegations have been registered in the capital alone in two weeks, of which 8,512 have been resolved in favor and 1,488 have been rejected so far.
In Madrid capital, it will not be necessary to resort to a second draw, since there are almost a thousand people in the census and all of them entered the draw on June 22, so the “list is drawn” when the applications are accepted. allegations.
Ponferrada, where only one of the 84 tables is complete
As of July 12, in Ponferrada (León) only one of the 84 polling stations has been completed and, although the president of the municipality’s Zone Electoral Board, Rodrigo Marcos Vian, admits that they are having more problems than usual for the constitution of the tables, it guarantees that the process will be completed normally because “there are means for it”.
“We are at 60 percent of excuses admitted and 40 percent rejected,” explains Marcos Vian, who adds that, although the excuses are part of the “picaresque Spanish”, with ailments and injuries of all kinds, most are justified .
“In the previous elections we finished constituting the 84 polling stations three days before the voting, so this time there is plenty of time to do it,” he says.
Wider raffles in the Valencian Community
From the Electoral Board of the Valencia area they explain that the consistories have been carrying out larger draws than usual for the composition of the polling stations, precisely with the aim of having a large reserve, avoiding problems and holding second draws , an extreme to which it has not been necessary to resort.
In addition to having received allegations for having contracted vacations, the same sources assure that the claim is also being frequent by employees who work in shifts, especially in the health sector, whose replacement in these summer months is not easy.
Problems in small municipalities of Murcia
The Mula Zone Electoral Board, which brings together eleven municipalities out of the 45 that the Region of Murcia has, has admitted that it has encountered certain problems in locating and finding members of the polling station.
The reason is that many residents have already started their vacations and are not at their usual homes.
This is the case of Ojós, with only five hundred inhabitants, but there are also difficulties in some municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, such as Albudeite, Aledo, Campos del Río, Pliego, Ricote, Ulea and Villanueva del Río Segura.
