Zaragoza (EFE) She has 15 of the 31 councilors of the Zaragoza town hall, to which she arrives to replace the also popular Jorge Azcón and make the Aragonese capital “the best place to live”.
The plenary session of the Zaragoza City Council is completed by the 10 councilors of the PSOE, the 4 of Vox and 2 of Zaragoza en Común. Chueca has been invested as mayor as the PP list was the most voted in the elections on May 28. The 10 PSOE councilors have voted for their candidate, Lola Ranera; the 4 from Vox to his, Julio Calvo, and those from ZeC to Elena Tomás.
The new mayoress, who takes over from Azcón, president of the PP in Aragon and candidate to preside over the Government of the Community, has opted in her speech for the “challenge of continuing with the transformation project.”
Sustainability, security and mobility, axes of transformation
Chueca has cited sustainability, security, mobility, economic stability, attracting investment and housing as axes of this transformation, as well as projects such as La Romareda or the city of sports.
The mayoress thanked Azcón for his trust in her “from the first day” and has assured that if he is the president of Aragon it will be “the guarantee of a meeting place between the city council and the Government of Aragon that will soon bear fruit”.
In his opinion, Zaragoza and Aragón “are facing a unique opportunity to recover an institutional relationship that concentrates efforts on seeking agreements, solving problems and restoring the path of collaboration” because “Zaragoza needs Aragón and Aragón needs Zaragoza”.
And for this reason, he has promised to “immediately reactivate the Bilateral Commission. Also restore the channels of dialogue” with the Government of Aragon.
