Kiev (EFE).- The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, announced today from Kiev a new package of military aid to Ukraine, as well as the participation of his country in the training of Ukrainian pilots in handling F-combat planes. 16.
The new military aid package will be 500 million dollars, reports the Ukrinform portal, after Trudeau’s press conference in the Ukrainian capital with President Volodímir Zelenski.
The shipments include 299 AIM-7 air defense missiles, according to that source, which refers these details to a Canadian government statement from Ottawa, coinciding with the visit.
The Ukrainian leader also affirmed his country’s intention to seize a Russian-owned Antonov transport plane that landed in Canada last year.
Canada’s repeated support for Ukraine
Trudeau arrived in kyiv on Saturday with his country’s deputy prime minister, Chrystia Freeland, for a previously unannounced visit for security reasons.
It is the second trip of the Canadian prime minister since the beginning of the Russian invasion to that country, to which Canada has provided strong support, both economically and in arms supplies.
The North American country is also participating in the organization of a logistics and maintenance center in Poland for Leopard tanks supplied by Western allies to Ukraine.
The Canadian delegation’s visit comes as Zelenski reinforces efforts to alleviate the effects of flooding caused by the explosion of the Kajovka dam.
The Canadian leader, for his part, is responsible for monitoring the management of the crisis caused in his country by the hundreds of devastating forest fires that have broken out in recent days in his country.
