Toledo (EFE).- Spain has sent a military hospital to Ukraine that arrived at its destination on Monday, to which other materials and vehicles such as ambulances, armored personnel carriers (TOA) and the four Leopard tanks that had yet to be sent are also traveling by sea.
The acting head of Defense, Margarita Robles, has visited this Tuesday the contingent of 44 Ukrainian soldiers who are being trained at the Toledo Infantry Academy in demining and deactivation of devices and booby traps.
During this visit, he stressed that Spain’s commitment to Ukraine “is total and absolute”, as evidenced by the shipment of material and weapons and the training that is being given to the Ukrainian military.
In this sense, he stressed that the training that the Spanish military is giving to Ukrainian fighters is essential.
Ukrainian fighters line up in booby trap disposal
The training that they are receiving these days at the Toledo Infantry Academy deals with the removal of mines and the deactivation of explosive devices and traps, which are causing a large number of casualties in the counteroffensive being carried out by the Ukrainian army.
Robles has emphasized that the training that the Ukrainian military is receiving in Toledo is essential in this phase of the war.

For this reason, he has congratulated the Spanish military who are teaching it, whom he has defined as “magnificent professionals”.
For this reason, this course is essential at a time when Ukraine is experiencing the counter-offensive and as a consequence of the actions of the Russian army, and above all “due to the enormous number of mines on the ground”, which are causing many casualties.
Wounded treated in Spain
Some of those injured by mine explosions and explosive devices are among the Ukrainian war wounded receiving treatment in Spain, 65 of them in Zaragoza and another five in Madrid.
Among the wounded treated in Zaragoza there are some “with terrible amputations” as a result of the mine explosion, which have caused them to lose their legs, arms or eyeballs, which are being operated on and are being fitted with prostheses in Spain, Robles said.
The acting minister spoke with the Ukrainian military who are receiving this training, to whom she conveyed “Spain’s support, our love, our affection and that we will be providing training and training for as long as necessary, because our commitment to Ukraine is total and absolute”.
To date, 1,800 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained in Spanish territory, 1,100 of them at the Toledo Infantry Academy.
Robles has expressed the admiration generated by the struggle of the Ukrainians, who in his opinion are being “an example to the world”, for their “courage and bravery” in defending not only their country “but all democratic countries”.
In this sense, and to questions from journalists, Robles has stressed that the only person responsible for what is happening in Ukraine is the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and has opined that “it must be said clearly in front of some who place themselves equidistant.”
He assures that the “only person responsible” for the war is Putin
“There is only one responsible here and the only one responsible is Putin, who is violating any rule of the law of war,” Robles stressed.
In addition, he has commented that he was visiting Odessa two months ago and now he is seeing that they are bombing the civilian population and monuments such as the cathedral.
In this regard, he has stated: “I believe that this war, in addition to its special cruelty, is characterized by the fact that the minimum and basic norms of the law of war are being violated.”
