Logroño, (EFE).- The PP has achieved an absolute majority in 102 of the 174 Rioja municipalities plus 3 local entities in the elections of May 28, after whose results, 6 county heads are pending pacts to form governments, except that, as it happens in Cervera de Río Alhama, the second most voted list facilitates governability, with abstention.
The regional head councils of Haro, Nájera, Calahorra, Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Arnedo and Cervera del Río Alhama have not achieved absolute majorities and would need these agreements.
The PP won with a simple majority in Haro, Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Nájera, Calahorra and Cervera de Río Alhama, as well as in larger municipalities close to Logroño, such as Villamediana and Albelda de Iregua.
In Arnedo, whose Corporation has 17 councilors, the PSOE won with a simple majority and, after losing two councilors in the 2019 elections, it would need the agreement of Podemos-IU (1 councilor) to govern.
For its part, in Calahorra, whose City Council has 21 mayors, the PP, which has been the force with the most votes, with 11 mayors, would need both from Vox to form a government.
In the remaining county heads, in Logroño and Alfaro, the PP has achieved an absolute majority, just as the PSOE has achieved it in Torreccilla in Cameros.
For its part, the new political party Por La Rioja has achieved five mayoralties and 52 councilors in the elections and may be decisive in the formation of governments in Haro, Santo Domingo de la Calzada and Albelda de Iregua, a municipality in which there has been a tie. between PP and PSOE, with five councilors each, and Por La Rioja has achieved 1.
