Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- Former minister Carolina Darias has won the elections in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the only one of the ten largest cities in Spain where the PSOE continues as the leading political force, after losing that status in Seville, Saragossa and Palma.
The PSOE has obtained 12 of the 29 councilors that make up the corporation in the capital of Gran Canaria, which would allow it to govern the city with its two partners in the last eight years, Nueva Canarias and Unidas Sí Podemos, which have achieved two and one, respectively.
The PSOE improves its 2019 results with one councilor, the PP gets nine (two more) and makes its debut in the City Council with four Vox mayors, a party that until tonight had no representatives in any consistory of the Canary Islands, in any of the seven councils and neither in the Parliament of the autonomous community.
Next is Nueva Canarias, with two councilors (one less); Canarian Coalition, with one (two less than in 2019, when it competed with United for Gran Canaria, UxGC) and United Yes We Can, with one (two less).
Instead, UxGC, which now goes alone, would stay out of the corporation, and Ciudadanos would lose its three councilors. EFE
