Ourense (EFE) almost an hour before the sanction for driving at 215 km/h in the province of Zamora, despite the fact that the highways are limited to 120.
The Civil Guard of Ourense has confirmed this Monday the information advanced by the Ser and the Público newspaper.
Baltar’s official car was detected by a velolaser at 5:44 p.m. at kilometer 210, in the municipality of Allariz at 173; and at 18:38, less than an hour later, he was stopped for going 215 km/h.
At the time, when only this latest infraction was known, Baltar explained in a letter that what happened was due to an “oversight”.
Baltar appeared on May 11 electronically before the Court of First Instance and Instruction of Puebla de Sanabria (Zamora) for a crime against road safety.
The politician from Ourense rejected the accusations and therefore will have to go to testify on May 31, after the municipal elections. The Prosecutor’s Office requested the withdrawal of the driving license.
His legal representative appealed when he understood that, once the administrative penalty was paid, something he did do, there is no room for a trial.
However, by exceeding the maximum speed allowed by more than 80 kilometers per hour, once the margin of error of the cinemometer was established, speeding was considered a crime against road safety and the proceedings were sent to the court.
At the time they stopped the official vehicle driven by Baltar himself to identify its driver, the agents who carried out the speed control did not have the certification of the speed meter’s margin of error, so they initially put him for speeding a fine of 600 euros, which with the prompt payment were 300, and six points of deduction from the license.
