Berlin, (EFE).- The Supervisory Board of the German media, services and education consortium Bertelsmann announced today the appointment as new director of the Spanish Pablo Isla, who said in a statement that he will bring to the entity “added international experience ”.
The appointment will be effective from April 1, 2024, the consortium specified in a statement, in which the chairman of the Supervisory Board, Christoph Mohn, declared that the former president of Inditex led the Spanish company in “a success story impressive international”.
Isla has shown, Mohn said, “that success and responsibility go hand in hand in an entrepreneur. He will enrich the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board with his management and experience. I am looking forward to working with him,” he added.
Isla is president of the governing council of IE University and former president of the Inditex group and of the companies Altadis and Logista, and is considered one of the most prestigious national and international Spanish executives.
He was born in Madrid, Spain, on January 22, 1964. He graduated in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1987, and a State lawyer, number one in his class, from the following year.
Since February 21, 2022, he has been a member of the board of trustees of the La Caixa Banking Foundation and since April 19, 2022, he has held the presidency of the governing council of IE University. The General Atlantic fund also signed him on May 16, 2022 as a senior adviser to provide strategic support and advice to the global consumer and technology investment teams.
Bertelsmann’s announcement comes days after the consortium announced a good start to the year with an increase in revenue of 5.6% to 4.8 billion euros in the first quarter, compared to 4.5 billion in the last three months. of 2022.
The main drivers were above all the publishing group Penguin Random House, the services subsidiary Arvato Group and the Bertelsmann Education Group.
