Madrid, (EFE).- Ana Rosa Quintana will take over Telecinco’s afternoons after the summer and will thus replace “Sálvame”, the veteran gossip program, which was canceled this Friday by Mediaset.
Sources close to the chain have confirmed to EFE the information provided by El Mundo, which states that all versions of “Sálvame” will disappear from the Telecinco programming schedule and that the last broadcast will be on June 16.
The space for “Save me” will be occupied by Ana Rosa Quintana, although the program model and broadcast schedule are yet to be defined.
The Madrid journalist, who has hosted “El programa de Ana Rosa” since January 2005, will continue to deal with the early-morning political debate for the time being. It is unknown who will occupy her position with Joaquín Prat in the rest of the schedule.
Although such an immediate cancellation of “Sálvame” was not expected, the continuity of the program hosted by Jorge Javier Vázquez was called into question since the departure of its then CEO, Paolo Vasile, from Mediaset was known last October.
“Sálvame” has been one of Telecinco’s star programs for 14 years, but the arrival of Alessandro Salem as the new CEO has meant a radical turn in the group’s policy and style.
Last February, Mediaset renewed its Code of Ethics and introduced a series of new regulations that directly affected the operation of a program like “Sálvame”.
Criticism of one program to another from the same company or abandoning a program live were prohibited. Also reveal personal data of third parties that are not publicly known.
The presenters must also lead and order the course of the program they present, and must immediately stop “any initiative of any collaborator or participant in the program that could give rise to an evident criminal or civil responsibility.”
The suspension of “Save me” has quickly become a trend on social networks, while those directly affected have not yet ruled on a measure that Mediaset has not yet officially made public.
