Moscow (EFE).- The Russian Ministry of Justice assured today that it will prohibit the change of sex in identity documents and other official certificates in order to defend traditional family values.
“Now it is mainly a matter of legally excluding the possibility of changing the sex in the passport and other documents,” Konstantin Chuichenko, Minister of Justice, told the TASS agency.
The change of sex, allowed in Russia since 1997
He recognized that sex change has been permitted by law in this country since 1997, although the person concerned is not required to undergo surgery to be able to introduce this change in his identity document.
Between 2018 and last year, more than 2,700 Russians changed their sex on their documents, leading to almost 200 marriages.
For this reason, the minister argues, a person who changed their sex on paper, although physically they remain the same, can marry and adopt children.
“Thus, questions arise such as at what age can a person who changed their sex become a pensioner or, if they broke the law, what kind of penitentiary they are sent to,” he said.
In his opinion, it is not only a question of a true “legal collision”, but of the lack of consonance between the legislation and what he called “constitutional priorities”.
The constitutional reform of 2020
The 2020 constitutional reform introduced into the Magna Carta the concept that marriage is a union between a man and a woman.
“Homosexual marriages do not produce children,” said the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, who used to preach against “genderless and sterile” liberalism on one occasion.
Chuichenko considers that the measures that his ministry intends to introduce will allow “to exclude in our country the possibility of changing sex through the simple modification of documents.”
According to local press reports, current legislation requires a passport change if a person’s appearance changes radically, such as after a plastic surgery operation.
The minister, who intends to standardize national legislation to the state policy of reinforcing traditional values, announced that he will shortly modify several laws, among others the one that deals with the civil status of the citizen.
Change of sex to avoid going to war
In this regard, the head of the Family Committee of the Duma or Chamber of Deputies, Nina Ostánina, assured that some young Russians had changed their sex in their documents so as not to have to be mobilized into the army.
“Unfortunately, the sex change dynamic is negative. Our youth, who are not ready for real life, from the beginning of the special military operation not only fled abroad, but ran to change their sex in order to avoid the threat of mobilization. This is the youth that we have prepared, this is the values that the West imposed on us, ”he said.
Putin, a confessed believer who has introduced all kinds of measures and incentives since the year 2000 to counteract the aging of the population, assured at the time that as long as he is president in Russia there will be no gay marriage.
Russia banned LGTBIQ+ propaganda
The State Duma or Lower House of Russia adopted a law a few months ago that prohibits the “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations”, pedophilia and gender reassignment in the media, the Internet, advertising, literature and cinema. , and introduces fines of up to 10 million rubles (165,200 dollars or 160,500 euros) for violating the legislation.
“The promotion of non-traditional sexual relations is prohibited. Any propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations will be sanctioned. A ban on the promotion of pedophilia and sex change has also been introduced. Fines will amount to up to 10 million rubles,” the Duma said in a statement.
