Logroño, (EFE).- The Government of La Rioja will present several proposals to incorporate into the Royal Decree of Measures against drought, among them some tax exemptions and bonuses, in addition to making the CAP more flexible.
These proposals have been agreed upon at the meeting of the La Rioja Drought Board, in which the Natural Environment and Agriculture councillors, Álex Dorado and Eva Hita, respectively, participated this Monday, together with the representatives of agricultural organizations and the Federation of Cooperatives, the La Rioja Executive has reported in a statement.
The meeting had a double objective, on the one hand, to transfer the measures that were exposed by the regional government at the Drought Table; and, on the other, collect the proposals of the La Rioja agricultural sector to send them to the Ministry of Agriculture in a joint document that reflects what La Rioja demands as a territory in the face of drought.
The Minister of Agriculture, Eva Hita, has highlighted that in the current situation of high temperatures and lack of rain, it is important to promote the modernization of irrigation in which progress has been made this legislature.
The Minister of Sustainability and Ecological Transition, Álex Dorado Nájera, for his part, has stressed the need to activate greater awareness among citizens about responsible use of water to avoid any unnecessary waste since, “although the water supply is guaranteed, we can all contribute to making a rational use of water”.
In reference to the measures that would have a place in the Royal Decree of drought, the Government of La Rioja has transferred to the Professional Agricultural Organizations and the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives that among the proposals that it will make to the Ministry of Agriculture is the exemption of the rates of taxes.
Also the exemption of contributions to agricultural Social Security; the rebate on loans and guarantees; the application request for catastrophic zones based on the climatic evolution of the coming weeks; direct and de minimis aid, to support sectors or areas with a special incidence of drought, as well as the possibility of activating ERTE for workers.
Likewise, tax benefits will be studied, taking into account the proposals made by the Professional Agrarian Organizations.
The Government of La Rioja will hold a new meeting with the agricultural sector next week to continuously monitor the measures proposed at the national level, the implementation of measures that respond to the situation in the Autonomous Community and evaluate the evolution of the situation.
