Madrid/Seville, (EFE) values of up to 35 degrees in large areas of the country and even 40 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley.
The conditions of atmospheric stability and strong insolation throughout the territory will contribute to this sharp increase in temperatures, which will cause a “progressive and marked rise” in the maximums, with values typical of summer, the Meteorology Agency (Aemet) has warned in a statement.
On Tuesday and, especially on Wednesday, the maximum temperatures are already expected to be above 30 degrees in a large part of the southern half of the peninsula, and locally also in the interior Ebro valley of Murcia and Valencia and in the Guadalquivir valley. and inland Huelva and Cádiz, where temperatures can reach 35 degrees.
Aemet has highlighted the probability that “the culminating phase of this episode” will be reached on Thursday and Friday with 30 degrees in much of the northern half of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of the extreme north of the peninsula.
In the Cantabrian and Galicia, although the temperatures will be “abnormally high, exceeding 25 degrees” they are not expected to reach 30 degrees, the Agency explained, to emphasize that in the southern half of the peninsula and in the Ebro valley they will reach generally 35 degrees, with greater intensity in the Guadalquivir valley, where it could reach up to 40 degrees.
Also high minimum temperatures in Andalusia
Regarding the minimum temperatures, they will also be “abnormally high throughout the country”, especially in Andalusia, where locally there can be tropical nights without falling below 20 degrees.
Aemet has predicted that late on Saturday and with greater probability on Sunday there will be a notable thermal drop due to the entry of a more humid and fresh air mass through the west of the Peninsula, and that with high uncertainty it could leave isolated storms in the northern half of the peninsula.
Regarding temperatures, on Saturday it will still exceed 30 degrees in the northern half and the Balearic Islands, and 35 degrees in the southern half and the Ebro valley, and on Sunday, with the entry of westerly winds, the maximum values are expected on the Mediterranean coasts, being able to reach 35 degrees, and where the temperature drop would have to wait until Monday.
In the Guadalquivir valley and Ebro valley it could still reach 30 degrees on Sunday, but in the rest of the country lower values are already expected, ending this episode of exceptionally high temperatures for the time of year. EFE
