Vitoria, (EFE).- A total of 25,730 Basques are waiting for a scheduled and non-urgent surgical operation in the Osakidetza centers. Of the total, 545 are cancer patients, 108 have heart disease, and the vast majority (25,077) are on the lists of other specialties.
These data are collected in a parliamentary response from the counselor, Gotzone Sagardui, to the representative of EH Bildu Rebeka Ubera.
As of March 17, the average delay for cancer patients was 13.06 days, a figure less than the 30 days legally established for this type of intervention.
The Bidasoa health region is located above this limit with an average of 43.7 days, while the rest are below.
non-urgent operations
In cardiac surgery, the norm establishes that the maximum term to operate is 90 days. The average delay in this case is 63.07 days, much higher in the Bilbao-Basurto region (80.8) than in Cruces (63.07).
The vast majority of the waits come together in the rest of the non-urgent interventions, which are waiting for 25,077 people. 180 days are established as the legal limit to be operated in the Basque public health and the average delay is below, with 68.8 days.

Where you have to wait the longest is in the Debabarrena health region (97.1 days) and the least in Uribe (51.68 days).
As regards appointments with outpatient specialists and those aimed at undergoing a diagnostic test, the counselor has also offered figures in another parliamentary response for the month of March.
The number of patients waiting for an appointment with the specialist has risen since November, when it was 115,000, and has gone to 128,104. The average delay is 64.29 days to be received.
For diagnostic tests, the average delay is 38.5 days, and the lists have gone from having 53,576 patients to 54,490 in recent months.
breast cancer screening
Sagardui has also offered data on the breast cancer early detection program, at the request of the same parliamentarian and dated March 17.
In this area, the data have improved in health regions such as Bilbao-Basurto and Cruces, which in January were up to eleven months late for the mammography tests included in this program.
In the first case it has dropped to 6 months and in the second to 2. They have not had the same evolution in the Álava region, which maintains the 11-month waiting period.

The counselor explains that the recovery has slowed down in this area due to the acquisition of new equipment with more advanced technologies that have led to stops for its placement.
In Rioja Alavesa, the 6-month delay is maintained, which is half a month in Goierri-Urola-Garaia. In the rest of the health regions there is no delay.
Specifically, there are 4,401 women in Álava, 1,976 in Bizkaia and 306 in Gipuzkoa who are waiting for an appointment for more than six months.
The counselor points out that the objective of the program is to achieve a delay of less than half a year in all units. For this, measures such as population transfers, reinforcement shifts and modifications in the summons systems are being arbitrated.
