Almería, (EFE).- The Cosentino Group earned 117 million euros in 2022, 13% more than a year earlier, driven by sales growth and has set itself the goal of investing close to 400 million between 2023 and 2025.
The company, dedicated to the production and distribution of surfaces for architecture and design, closed 2022 with sales of 1,711 million. This represents a growth of 22% compared to 2021. While the gross operating result (ebitda) accounted for 312 million, 13% higher, as indicated in a statement.
92% of sales came from international markets. The main ones are North America (United States and Canada), which accounted for 59%, and Europe (including Iberia) with 31%.
In the 2022 financial year, the group’s total investment amounted to 197 million, 88% more than in 2021. And 80% was allocated to the expansion and improvement of its industrial park in Cantoria (Almería).
The group highlights that the construction and start-up of the largest factory for the production of ultra-compact stone responds to the growing demand for Dekton in all markets. This has led to an expansion of the automated logistics platform that has involved an investment of more than 140 million.
The creation of 426 new jobs
The item directed to R+D+i assets and projects was 27 million. While the investment in environmental and security assets rose above 37 million.
On the other hand, the multinational highlights that during the past year 426 jobs were created, until closing 2022 with 5,851 employees in total. Of these, 57% are located in Spain.
Cosentino paid 59 million in own taxes (corporate tax, tariffs and others), and collected 350 million in taxes from third parties (mostly VAT and withholdings) generated by the development of its economic activity.
These results are prior to the sentence of a court in Vigo handed down last January and in which the president of Cosentino was sentenced for five cases of silicosis in as many workers of a Galician marble factory, so said ruling does not influence the same.
Investment plan for the next three years
The company’s strategic plan provides for investments of around 400 million euros in the 2023-2025 period.
The largest volume will be aimed at expanding and growing its production capacity with a potential new Dekton manufacturing line, or the start of the first phase of a new manufacturing infrastructure in the United States.
In addition, the internationalization process based on commercial assets will maintain its pace with more than 50 new openings planned in this period.
Cosentino closed last year with 144 of its own facilities and six logistics platforms spread over the five continents. EFE
