València (EFE).- Compromís has been the first political formation to register its lists for the regional and municipal elections on May 28, with the desire to win these elections and reissue the current governments, both in Valencia and in the Generalitat.
The mayor of Valencia and Compromís candidate for re-election, Joan Ribó, has been the first to present his candidacy before the Zone Electoral Board, after different members of the coalition have been on duty for 36 hours.
Upon leaving, a photo was taken with the members of the list, who chanted “Xe que bo, mayor Joan Ribó”.
Speaking to journalists, Ribó stressed that being the first has “a certain symbolic component”, since they were the first in 2015 and 2019, and in this way, they show their desire to “win these elections again” in the same way the way they did in the previous electoral appointments.
Ribó’s objective: to win, but with the will to agree
“This is our approach, we want to continue the work that is being done and that is seen by the whole world, from here and from New York and London”, stressed Ribó, who aspires to win the elections, but maintains “the will to reach to agreements with all the progressive forces”.
His commitment is to continue working for a “healthier and more sustainable” city, in which there is more and more affordable housing for all, and that takes older people into account, “improving services and providing local services at the residence level and help.”
The mayor and candidate acknowledges that the fact of being the first to present his candidacy also has “a practical part”, and that the Compromís ballots will appear first at the polling stations on election day, which helps to “avoid mistakes”.
“The first place is a place that seems clear to everyone. It is easier to confuse between the fifth and the sixth, than between the first and second”, he explained, although he has insisted that the reason for having been the first is to show that they arrive with “strength and desire” to continue being the formation that take the Mayor of Valencia to the next legislature.
Compromís, first also to register the list to the autonomic ones
Compromís has also been the first group to present the list for the regional elections for Valencia, headed by the candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat, Joan Baldoví.
Number two on the list, Maria Josep Amigó, has said that it is a candidacy “full of enthusiasm and renewed energy”, which aspires to continue working, as they have done these eight years, because “there is still a lot to do”.
“We have to be there, from the front line,” declared Amigó, who is confident that as of May 28 they can continue working to improve education and health, and also to expand the housing stock.
