Vitoria (EFE).- 54% of the Basques believe that robots will be able to do all or part of their work in the next 15 years.
According to a Basque Government survey, 76% of the population assumes that there will be many social and economic changes in the coming years.
40% of those surveyed think that they will be positive for the Basque Country and 38% that they will be negative.
Among these changes is the use of robots. Half of society has ever used robots at home, at work, or both. They are 8 points more than 3 years ago.
New technologies will destroy jobs
54% believe that these robots or other technologies will be able to do their jobs and 41% do not. 66% believe that due to the use of robots and artificial intelligence, more jobs will disappear than will be created.
76% think robots will be able to do most household chores, while only 22% think they won’t.
57% have a positive image of robots and artificial intelligence, although people with a negative image have increased in recent years (from 27% to 32%).
The vast majority think that robots are necessary because they can do jobs that would be very hard and dangerous for people (80%). Also that robots and artificial intelligence are good for society because they help people to do their work or their daily tasks at home (70%).
When it comes to more delicate, dangerous or personal tasks that robots can perform autonomously, 53% are willing to be operated by a robot, 43% to travel in a driverless autonomous vehicle and 36% to be cared for by a robot.

Women are much less willing to use robots in all of these cases. 42% would be operated on by a robot, compared to 64% of men; 35% of women would travel in an autonomous vehicle, compared to 53% of men; and 27% are willing to be cared for by a robot, compared to 46% of men.
Widespread use of the internet but with risks
In sociological work, it is verified that 83% of Basques use the Internet every day: 39% every hour, 24% every two or three hours and 20% less frequently.
Another 7% of the population uses the Internet, even if it is not every day, so nine out of ten people use the network. This percentage rises to 100% among those under 45 years of age and 96% among the population between 46 and 64 years of age.
The device par excellence when using the internet is the mobile phone because 76% use it preferentially when connecting, ten points more than 3 years ago.
68% are very or quite concerned about the possibility of being a victim of a crime on the Internet (identity theft, fraudulent sale, theft of bank details, etc.), and 32% are concerned about the possibility of being a victim of online harassment. Internet. Women (37%) are more concerned than men (27%) in this regard.
In addition, 46% believe that they are not sufficiently protected against the possibility of being victims of a digital crime.
