Logroño, (EFE).- The Regulatory Council of the Qualified Designation of Origin (DOCa) Rioja launches a diagnostic project on sustainability, in collaboration with the consultant Isemaren, which is a roadmap to position itself as a reference region in this field within the wine sector.
This was stated this Friday, in Logroño, by the coordinator of the Committee of Experts on Sustainability of the DOCa Rioja, Estíbaliz Torrealba, and the director of Sustainability and Climate Change of Isemaren, Helena Fernández, at the presentation of the project.
This is an exercise of detailed analysis of the current state of sustainability within the DOCa Rioja, shared by La Rioja, the Basque Country and Navarra, in order to assess the real situation of the Denomination in the key aspects of this matter, which it is environmental, socioeconomic and governance, they have explained.
The project presents differential aspects in its methodology, development and subsequent result, such as the large size of the sample and its randomness, the approach to sustainability including all aspects.
Three hundred interviews will be carried out in wineries and in the vineyard to find out, “in situ”, the reality of different parameters of the sector in the field of sustainability, such as water analysis, energy situation, waste management or plant covers. EFE.
